Fulham have reportedly entered the race to sign Leeds United’s Spanish winger Rodrigo, according to reports from Brazil.
The 32 year-old appears set to leave Elland Road this summer following Leeds’ relegation from the Premier League and had been expected to join Qatari outfit Al Rayyan, who were confident of seeing off competition from clubs in England and Spain with a lucrative contract.
The Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade, who has previously provided accurate information about a number of Fulham signings during the Marco Silva era, reveals that Al Rayyan ‘remain confident’ of clinching Rodrigo’s signature – but also discloses that they are ‘aware’ of interest from the Whites. The Spanish international, who can operate as a left winger or as a more conventional centre forward, has just a year left on his Leeds contract and could be available at a vastly reduced price.
Rodrigo, well known to Silva and several of the Fulham coaching staff after starring as Benfica won the Portuguese treble in 2014 as well as reaching back-to-back Europa League finals, has scored 28 goals in 97 appearances since moving to Leeds from Valencia for £27m. He lifted the Copa del Ray with Valencia in 2019 and was part of the Spanish squad that won the UEFA Nations’ League last month.
Wlliian was spot on, but Rodrigo sounds like another Soares.
