Fulham head coach Marco Silva wants to be reunited with Yerry Mina at Craven Cottage this summer, according to a story from the Sun’s football writer Alan Nixon this morning.
The Portuguese head coach took the Colombian centre back to Goodison Park from Barcelona in 2018 and Mina, who has previously spoken warmly about the man he calls ‘Professor,’ is available on a free transfer at the end of this month as he will be released by Everton at the end of his contract. The 28 year-old defender made 99 appearances in five years on Merseyside scoring nine goals, but struggled for form and fitness last term – playing just eight games as the Toffees stayed up on the final day of the season.
Silva has been a long-term admirer of the 6ft 5in defender and is keen to supplement his central defensive resources after the departure of Shane Duffy. Mina, who won the Colombian championship with Independiente Santa Fe and the Brasileirão at Palmeiras before lifting La Liga with Barcelona, scored three headed goals in the 2018 World Cup – equalling the most at a finals by a defender in the competition’s history.
Mina is believed to be very keen on working with Silva in SW6 and the lack of a transfer fee would free funds for Fulham to strengthen their squad in other areas.
Don’t like the thought of our current players moving on but if Robinson goes to Newcastle the obvious replacement is matt targett, surely?
Would be a cost effective replacement for Duffy.
Not going to be a regular
He would be a regular starter if he stays fit. To good a defender not to start.
I can understand if players want to go to “better” clubs, but if we can build on last year’s success then we can be that club. If players will not sign up to that, then if limited time left on their contracts we should sell to raise money and recruit players that do want to be here.
It’s a shame that Tossin and Robbo are going? But if that’s the case Mina and an extra full back. Are needed so with cover that means 3 full backs
Tosin was good last year and Robbo had his best year at the club. But let’s move on
Mina would do a job for us, if only he could keep match fit for more than a week in succession
I agree if Robinson should sign for Newcastle the we should get Matt Targett as part of the deal.He knows the club and performed well for us
