Fulham have opened preliminary discussions with Liverpool over a return to Craven Cottage for Fabio Carvalho, according to various reports this morning.
The Motspur Park academy graduate left the Whites last summer having helped Marco Silva’s side win the Championship. The Portuguese under-21 international has struggled for game time at Anfield, making just 21 appearances in all competitions and playing only five Premier League minutes since last November. Liverpool rejected an offer from RB Leipzig for the 20 year-old attacking midfielder and are only willing to allow the talented youngster to leave on loan.
Carvalho, who moved to Merseyside for around £7.7m last July having rejected the chance to leave Fulham permanently in January because he wanted to help his boyhood club return to the top flight, flourished upon being promoted to the senior squad by Marco Silva when his compatriot took over from Scott Parker in the summer of 2021. He scored twelve goals in 44 senior appearances for the Whites, having starred for the club’s youth sides having joined Fulham in 2015 from Balham.
Silva is seeking reinforcements in the number ten role that Carvalho made his own a season ago with Andreas Pereira likely to the start of the new Premier League season. Several other Premier League sides are keeping tabs on Carvalho’s availability but Fulham are believed to be leading the race at present.
He will be welcome back he should never have gone to Liverpool in the first place. J hope they are not just rumours and the move comes to fruition
Would not have him on loan , and it would hurt to pay more than Liverpool payed for him but must be a buy. And would have to earn his place again. When Perrier fit would he get in ,he’s not a winger, have Liverpool ruined him. I liked him but not sure it would work
Yes he would be great for the team
I think a loan would lead to a permanent transfer at the end of the 23/24 season. By then Liverpool will have convinced themselves that he isn’t top class and will have moved on to rob another team of a talented youngster. Fabio will be surplus to requirements and loving it in SW6.
Permanent yes! Loan absolutely no chance, why help the poachers anymore then already have
I see this a bit how I see the LIV golfers. Left for the bigger bucks and now come back richer. It leaves a sour taste in my mouth if he comes back. Sport all round is becoming totally immoral and run by dodgy gambling. Ivan Toney is just the tip of the iceberg and the Chinese snooker players bans show how corrupt that game is. No more sports subscriptions for me. I’m done with it all
I am a bit worried about what this says about the club he left for the glory and now we want him back let’s build our team with players that are committed not with players that have already mentally left ffc we can do better
Zaha returned to Palace, was that a success? Of course it was. Come on everyone, having Fabio at Fulham is better than not having him.
Blimey, comparing Fabio Carvalho to match fixers in snooker, golfers who have taken the Saudi money and the Brentford centre forward who bet on his own team to lose is a bit much, Nigel!
