Fulham are interested in signing Danish midfielder Jacob Steen Christensen from FC Nordsjælland, according to reports in both Denmark and Italy.
The Premier League club are one of a number of sides keen on concluding a deal for the Danish under-21 international, who is out of contract this summer and can open negotiations with foreign clubs. He had been tipped for a move to Serie A side Spezia but is believed to favour a move to England. Christensen, a central midfielder who can also operate in the holding role, has made more than a hundred appearances since breaking into the Nordsjælland first-team aged seventeen in July 2018.
Known colloquially as ‘Jaxe’, Christensen has missed just one game for Nordsjælland, who are top of the Superliga table by three points, this season. Marco Silva is eager to add to his options in midfield before the summer transfer window – and it remains to be seen whether Fulham would try to conclude a deal to sign the promising midfielder before Tuesday’s deadline or take Christensen on a pre-contract agreement.
Out wide is probably the only area we don’t need cover. At least in central midfield we have 3 premier league players in Palhinia, HReed and Cairney.
I’d have thought priorities were fullbacks (which Silva is on with Soares)…but more importantly…is up front. Vinicius is pointless. Apart from heading into the net against Chelsea when their keeper lost the flight of the ball he has done nothing. He can’t link play very well, he’s slow, he can’t hold the ball up, he isn’t physical enough to handle centre backs I genuinely don’t see the point of playing him. We’d be better off playing with a false 9 of Perreira or James pace. Anything is better than carrying a passenger. We need a Mitro back up. If he gets injured we’re in real trouble. If Palhinia or Reed gets injured then we have Cairney to start a least.
