Moroccan defender turned down interest from Arsenal and across Europe to sign for Fulham in the summer of 2001. He credits Jean Tigana and his time at Craven Cottage with improving him as a defender and a man, holding a special place in his heart for the club and its supporters despite only making 36 first-team appearances. Ouaddoh was a bit part player in Fulham’s first season in the Premiership and, filled in at right back for Steve Finnan, as the Whites won the InterToto Cup and got to the third round of the UEFA Cup in 2003. He fell out of favour under Chris Coleman and spent the final two seasons of his contract on loan in France, but remains the only Fulham player to have captained his country in a major international final having led Morocco to the African Nations Cup final in 2005. Ouaddoh became an outspoken critic of Qatar’s hosting of the recent World Cup having been mistreated in the country at the end of his playing career. He is now coaching in Benin.
