Fulham have ruled out a move for Heerenveen right back Milan van Ewijk as they close in on the capture of Cedric Soares, according to the Portuguese press.
Fulham scouts watched van Ewijk in Eredivisie action earlier this month as they scoured Europe for full back options on the instructions of head coach Marco Silva. The Dutch defender admitted he was attracted by the possibility of a move to the Premier League, but Fulham are now content to withdraw from the race for the 22 year-old right back as a deal with Arsenal for Silva’s number one target appears to nearing completion.
Portuguese sports paper Record reports that the path is clear for Silva’s former club, Sporting, to move for van Ewijk as their replacement for Pedro Porro, who is on the cusp of a big-money move to Tottenham.
Y not have both one to cover the other
I do hope that this Cedric Soares is worth the wait so I have been told he can play Left Back as well which is good let’s wait and see
I believe that is a big mistake and a missed opportunity for Fulham. We need a young quality right back and the Dutch lad all the hallmarks for being a success at Fulham for many years and his value would increase greatly. Instead Khan has opted for the old slow 31 year from Arsenal who offers nothing in terms of longevity with the club. Very short sighted transfer we will regret in the long term.
