Fulham have made an offer believed to be around £3.5m for Rennes captain Hamari Traoré, according to reports in France.

Marco Silva has made signing a right back his top priority for the January transfer window after Kevin Mbabu’s disappointing start to the life at Craven Cottage. The Portuguese head coach would still favour a reunion with Cedric Soares, the Portuguese full back currently out of favour at Arsenal, but the Euro 2016 winner’s wage demands appear to have encouraged the Whites to consider other targets.

Foot Mercato claims that the Londoners are attempting to win a tussle with Roma, who appear to have priced Rik Karsdorp out of a move to London, for the 30 year-old Traoré, who has made more than 200 appearances for Rennes since moving to Brittany from Reims in 2017. The Mali international is out of contract in the summer and it remains to be seen whether Les Rennais will cash in during January or opt to retain him until the end of the domestic season. Traoré was part of the Rennes side that won the French Cup in 2019.
