A second half winner from the marvellous Martial Godo secured that Fulham’s under 21s finished their Premier League Cup group campaign with maximum points – after winning all six of their first round matches with a 2-1 win at Charlton Athletic this afternoon.

The Addicks pushed Steve Wigley’s side all the way in an absorbing temperature played in chilly temperatures at Princes Park in Dartford. Centre forward Olly Sanderson gave the Whites the lead just before the half hour mark when he turned in a cross from Sylvester Jasper to score his fourth goal of the campaign.

Charlton, just like they had at Motspur Park in the reverse fixture, carried a real threat going forward. They rallied impressively after going behind and put Fulham under serious pressure before half time. They deservedly equalised just before the break when Karoy Anderson finished superbly into the top corner after being found by Harvey Kedwell.

The visitors went ahead again eleven minutes into the second period. Jay Williams, back in his original right back role, delivered a devastating ball in from the flank and Godo – enjoying an excellent first full season at Fulham following his move from Margate last term – drove home what proved to be the winner. Wigley’s youngsters have been in extraordinary form in this competition over the past few weeks and are definitely the side to avoid in the last sixteen.
