The son of legendary former Yeovil, Hereford and Exeter City striker Adam – who died from cancer aged just 31 – Jay Stansfield began his career with the Grecians. He joined Fulham in August 2019 and became a regular in the club’s youth teams. Stansfield made his senior debut as a substitute in Fulham’s FA Cup third round win over Aston Villa in January 2020, before making a first league appearance against Charlton later than month. His first Fulham goal came in the 2-0 win over Birmingham City in the League Cup in August 2021.
A firm favourite of Marco Silva, Stansfield made his Premier League debut in Fulham’s 0-0 draw at Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2022 and started on the right wing against Brentford the following week. He rejoined Exeter on loan on transfer deadline day and scored nine goals in 39 games for the Grecians. Stansfield was loaned out to Birmingham City the following season – hitting thirteen goals as the Blues were relegated and forced his way into Marco Silva’s first-team squad for the 2023/2024 campaign. His second goal for the Whites came at St. Andrew’s in the League Cup in August 2024. He was sold to the Blues on transfer deadline day for an initial £15m.
