Almost every summer, Fulham are linked with the Egyptian forward Mido. The transfer window comes round again and the rumour resurfaces almost like clockwork. We’ve even got a January edition this year with the Daily Mail the latest to claim that Fulham are in a battle with Hull and Ajax to sign the Middlesbrough striker.
Mido, once outstanding for Spurs in a Cup tie against us a few years ago, is being quite coy about the situation:
Hull have been talking to me for a month now and another English club, who I cannot name at the moment, are also interested.
I always thought he was older than 26. Anyway, the only thing that even tempts me to suggest there might be something in this is that Roy used to coach El Zamalek’s manager ten years or so ago. Watch this space.
Let Hull have him. He has moments of brilliance, but for the most part, he’s lazy. I doubt he’d put in the type of shift Roy requires of his front men.
Gosh Beattie or Cousin and now Mido. Well we badly need a target man. We are desperate. But nobody can be THAT desperate. Can they?
Hello there. Take it from a Boro fan – the bloke’s a liability. Not so much in terms of talent, which is pretty much fine, more his awful attitude. When he can be bothered to play he’s just about everything you could want from a forward. Otherwise he’s unfit, lazy, a bad influence on other players, divisive, ever whining to the press about wanting a move and ticks just about every box in the ‘Unprofessional clown’ column.
It’s the fact he does have the ability that keeps clubs interested in him, but a quick check on Wikipedia should show that he’s played for loads of clubs in his career and there’s got to be reasons why he has had so many transfers. Basically, he makes Nicolas Anelka look like Matt Le Tissier.
Good luck for the rest of the season. Avoid.
