Lewis Holtby briefly enlivened Fulham’s doomed fight against relegation with a series of creative cameos after arriving on loan from Tottenham in January 2014. The German midfielder made his debut in a 3-0 home defeat by Southampton and went on to make thirteen appearances for the club, scoring once in a 3-1 defeat at relegation rivals Cardiff, but his prospects were undermined by the appointment of Felix Magath, who Holtby had fallen out with at Schalke, in February.
