Latvian international Andrejs Stolcers was a winter signing from Shakhtar Donetsk designed to supplement Jean Tigana’s squad as the-then Division One leaders headed into a frenetic festive period. The attacking midfielder made an ideal start to his Fulham career, scoring twice on his debut as the Whites won 3-1 at West Brom. But they proved to be his only league goals for the club. Stolcers, who also scored a brace against Bury in the League Cup, made just ten further league appearances in three further seasons before being released in the summer of 2004.
