Following his encouraging debut for Fulham in Saturday’s engrossing draw with Liverpool, Andreas Pereira has told ESPN Brazil how much he is enjoying life at Craven Cottage.

The 26 year-old attacking midfielder, who spent last season on loan with Flamengo, joined the Whites for £9.5m from Manchester United earlier this summer. Pereira, who had been on Slavisa Jokanovic’s shortlist some six years ago, says he is playing in a more advanced role under Marco Silva than during his time in Brazil.

I’m playing a little more attacking, with a little more freedom. I like to play there, a position I played at Flamengo a few times. It’s good for me, I have more freedom, I can attack, play more at ease.

He felt his first competitive appearance for the Cottagers went well, even if there was some frustration that Fulham couldn’t hold on for a famous win over Jurgen Klopp’s men.

“The intensity, of course is different [in the Premier League]. Here are the best teams in the world. We matched them [Liverpool], we couldn’t win, but the draw was of great value.
