Fulham have agreed an initial fee of around £5m with Wolfsburg to sign Swiss international full back Kevin Mbabu, according to various reports tonight.
Marco Silva is keen to add a right back to his squad ahead of the new Premier League season with doubts surrounding Kenny Tete’s form and fitness. Mbabu, who is eager to return to England having previously played for Newcastle United, has won 22 senior caps for his country and made 82 appearances for Wolfsburg after moving from Young Boys, for whom he won successive Swiss titles, in 2019. The 27 year-old defender featured in 31 matches last term – including six Champions’ League fixtures – scoring a single goal.
Mbabu’s representatives will finalise personal terms with Fulham ahead of a medical, although Wolfsburg are said to be confident that the deal can be completed fairly swiftly.
What about the reports that he is holding out for 3 million per year salary?
Who knows what is true and what is BS press page fillers?
Is 60,000 per week too much for a full back? He DOES have 22 International caps.
We had no qualms paying Jean Michel Seri 65,000 per week.
We are STILL paying Ivan Cavaleiro and Anthony Knockaert a combined 100,000 per week.
So, on the face of it, seeing as the above two will soon, hopefully, please God, be off our books once and for all, we should agree his terms and get him in asap.
However, if he has even the slightest doubt about joining us-doesn’t fancy us as a club or considers us a step down -we don’t want him.
PLEASE-even if it is BS press page fillers-can we hear something about a decent centre back coming our way?
You are right !!.Urgently need two centre backs and a back up striker.
The transfer market this year has been so slow, full of hot air and dithering what the he’ll is going on ? MARCO knows who and what he wants so why has he not got his men and why aren’t they busy training and getting to know each others strengths
I was confident we would stay up this year with Marco but the khan’s are not making it easy for him with the slow signings .the same as the other year’s .they do not learn from there mistakes . They are making us a yo-yo club . trying to save a couple of million now might cost us staying in the premiership they are short sighted.poor owners
My God, 100k for Cavaleiro and Knockaert!
Mbabu £5m
Neco £17m
I think we did a good deal here! And in my opinion, Mbabu is more tested in highest level.
Let’s hope we can get a good GK (Leno?), and 1 or 2 CB.
Charles Corkery, you killed me… 100,000 per week Cavaleiro + Knockaert!? Oh my….
We definitely need a center half but surely we also need a fast dribbling, dynamic goal scorer to take the pressure off mitro. Mitro is great but with a decoy he and Fulham will need to be taken seriously!! Could cornet be the one!!?
Fulham can’t even negotiate a shirt deal much less negotiate a transfer deal. Ineptitude is the only description that describes this owner. Look at his American football team that would have been relegated-if they had relegation-many times over the years under his leadership to understand why it’s August and every other promoted team is kicking our butts in the transfer market. Fulham can’t hold good young players and can’t sign any established players and the story repeats year after bloody year.
When are we going to get centre backs? I can’t believe we haven’t already got them in by now, we are a laughing stock because the Khan’s don’t have a clue about football.
