Fulham are confident of concluding a deal to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno this week, according to the Evening Standard.
The London clubs are believed to have agreed a fee for the 30 year-old, who is the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, and wants to move across the capital to boost his chances of playing first-team football in World Cup year. Leno, who was replaced in Mikel Arteta’s starting eleven by Aaron Ramsdale last season, has slipped further down the pecking order at Arsenal after the summer arrival of Matt Turner.
The former Leverkusen and Stuttgart custodian is desperate to play regularly as he hopes to force his way back into the German reckoning ahead of the finals in Qatar this winter and has agreed personal terms on a three-year deal at Craven Cottage. Marco Silva has targeted a new goalkeeper for the start of the Whites’ Premier League campaign and signing Leno, who has won nine senior caps for his country, would be a significant coup for the Cottagers.
Leno will become Fulham’s number one goalkeeper, which would raise questions about Marek Rodak’s future at the club – as the Slovakian international, who has twice won promotion from the Championship only to be usurped by a big-name replacement once the Whites reached the top flight, also wants consistent game-time.
Leno would be a clear upgrade IMHO, and on Rodak, I’m sorry for lad but this is top tier, no time for romanticism!
Pereira deal is full completed, and he even took the photos for club. Solomon is also closed but can’t be announced until 1st August due to UEFA bureaucracy. Both informations provided by insider Fabricio Romano.
Why FFC is sooooo slow to announce their signings? They both have been in London for 1 week for medicals, contracts,… and we are still waitting to listen something from club.
So Nico Williams slips through our fingers and joins Forest, who don’t appear to be having problems signing good players. Meanwhile Tony Khan messes about like some second rate Daniel Levy. Just about to avail myself of Evens for Fulham to be relegated. Great club, run by incompetents.
Williams was overpriced so Forest are welcome to him.
The transfer window makes life very difficult for someone like Rodak. We can’t risk trying him out because if he falls short we can’t replace him until January. In my opinion he’s possibly good enough but the club can’t take the risk.
I don’t understand the logic behind the transfer window. What was wrong with the old system where transfers could happen at any time until 6 to 8 weeks from the end of the season. Why was there a need to change that?
Tony Khan-the club need someone better. He would quibble over zippy & bungle and end up getting sooty! Surely the club deserves better. His handling of transfer affairs will lead to Marco leaving. I appreciate that he is the son of the chairman, however his ineptitude will end up undoing all the good work that was done on the pitch last season.
