Braga midfielder Al-Musrati has been left out of the Libyan squad for the opening set of African Nations Cup qualifiers in order to try and complete a move to Fulham.
The Premier League newcomers registered their interest with Braga a fortnight ago and are hopeful of concluding a deal to sign the 6ft 4in defensive midfielder, who has impressed Marco Silva with a series of dominant displays in the Primeira Liga. The 26 year-old, who helped Braga win the Taca de Portugal last year, was an integral part of Libya’s 2014 African Nations Championship triumph – where they beat Ghana on penalties in a dramatic final.
Al-Musrati is well known to Silva as he has spent five years in Portuguese football after beginning his career with Al-Ittihad Tripoli. The powerful midfielder has made 89 appearances in two years with Braga, scoring six goals, and is intrigued by the prospect of playing in England.
Braga are not one of the top teams in Portugal so it would depend on the fee which i would hope not to be over 8 million for an unproven player in England and especially the Premier league. I reserve judgement but am more than a tad sceptical
Would be a great signing.
Malcolm B your knowledge of Portuguese football appears sketchy since Braga finished 4th in Liga Portugal. Leave it to Marco’s judgement!
Ideal replacement for anguissa!
reminds me of the Wardrobe
Sounds like he could be a good signing and if Marco Silva thinks he is then we should get him in as soon as possible.
Braga appear to be quoting a price between 13 and 15 million. This seems a lot money for someone who has only played for a mid table team on the Portuguese league, which is a far cry from the Premiership. It would be a massive gamble should it go ahead . At the moment Tony Khan so far has failed to sign anyone yet including Solomon, who seemed to be a good deal at 7 million, especially as he had played in the Champions league. The same old story . What the club requires is players with premiership experience, priority being given to buy a Goalkeeper and at least one central defender with pace.
Richard S, the transfer window hasn’t opened yet.
