Fulham want to turn Neco Williams’ successful loan move from Liverpool into a permanent deal – and are confident of concluding a £12m transfer in the coming weeks.
The Welsh full back was a revelation after arriving at Craven Cottage on the final day of the January transfer window. Williams immediately displaced Kenny Tete, reprising his partnership at club and international level with Harry Wilson along the Whites’ right flank. The 21 year-old made fourteen appearances, scoring twice and adding two assists, as Marco Silva’s side surged to the Championship table before a knee injury ruled him out of the final three games of the campaign.
Williams has returned to Merseyside following the completion of Fulham’s season but the Londoners are keen to agree a permanent switch ahead of their return to the Premier League. The Wrexham-born defender is desperate to play first-team football to retain his spot in the Welsh side ahead of the World Cup this winter – and he will find his path to the senior side at Anfield blocked by Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Tony Khan is quoted as saying that the Fabio deal was good business-my a@@e! Liverpool want 12 million for Williams, the club that fights for justice have little respect for the so called smaller clubs.
Great player. I’m no expert but that’s steep considering they are happy for him to leave.
If Williams can be the steadying influence at the back which means we don’t ship goals like last time then £12 million is a bargain, and we know how well he works with Wilson. I’ve not seen a word anywhere about Liverpool being happy to let him go, so it’s by no means a done deal. I’d really like to have another defender who really wants to play for us, and is hungry for success.
TK did say that the Fabio deal was good business, but that’s compared to what the Tribunal might have given us (you’ve only got to look at what they gave us for Elliot!)
What Tony Khan knows about football you could write on a pin head. Too many rumours and no substance yet regarding signings.
Carvalho wouldn’t sign a new contract, so Liverpool could have possibly got him for less, so unfortunately what we got for him was the best deal we could have done.
I blame Carvalho, he’s a good player, but he has no loyalty whatsoever, and I don’t want people like that at Fulham.
I would love for us to sign Williams on a permanent contract,as for the rumours of us resigning Fredericks after he left us on a free contract I think that would be a bad move he is now 29 and his best years are behind him,we need to be signing higher quality if we are to stay up next season.
