Neco Williams wants to make his loan spell at Fulham permanent, according to reports this afternoon.

The Welsh international full back has slotted seamlessly into Marco Silva’s starting line-up since moving to Craven Cottage at the end of January, scoring two goals and adding two assists in ten appearances for Fulham. He has also kept four clean sheets as the Whites have surged clear at the top of the second tier and look set for an immediate return to the Premier League.

Fulham are keen to secure the 20 year-old’s services as they prepare for another tilt at the top flight, having already registered their interest in the right back with Liverpool. It was initially assumed that this would most likely be another season-long loan, but Williams is reportedly ready to tell Liverpool that he wants to leave Anfield in order to secure regular first-team football, which he is unlikely to get under Jurgen Klopp due to Trent Alexander-Arnold’s stranglehold on the right back spot.

Liverpool are believed to value Williams at around £12m and the Wrexham-born defender is acutely aware that he needs to be playing regularly to retain his place in Rob Page’s Welsh side as they prepare for next week’s World Cup play-off semi-final against Austria. Fulham are eager to conclude a deal for Williams with longstanding concerns over the fitness of Dutch international Kenny Tete, who has endured another injury-hit campaign.
