Neco Williams has really hit the ground running with on loan at Fulham – registering two assists in his first league appearances – and he wants to keep on racing down that right flank.

The Welsh international followed up a low cross for Aleksandar Mitrovic’s opener against Millwall with a brilliant delivery for the Serbian striker’s winner at Hull on Saturday and he admitted to FFCTV this afternoon that he couldn’t have dreamt of a better start to life at Craven Cottage.

“I’m delighted. Two assists as well. That’s one of the main reasons I came here to showcase what I can do and get as many assists as I can. I’ve had the perfect start to that where we’ve had clean sheets and I’ve had two assists in the first two league games. With how the game has evolved, the main thing in a full back’s head now is to try and get assists. You see it with the best teams in the world – the full backs main contributions are assists. It is something that I’m trying to add to my game and hopefully I can do that.”

Fulham had to battle the elements on Humberside last weekend but Williams was still eager to get forward and that sense of adventure led to the crucial moment just before the hour mark.

“The pitch weren’t the best. It was waterlogged, basically all throughout the game, and everywhere. It was raining and it was windy. We know it may come down to one decisive moment and that was Mitro’s goal. We know that first and foremost, though, we had to keep a clean sheet because without the clean sheet we wouldn’t have got the three points. Thankfully, it was my cross that got the goal.”

A modest Williams laughed off comparisons with Trent Alexander-Arnold, but highlighted the way that Marco Silva wants his side to play and the presence of Mitrovic leading the line as key factors in convincing him to join the Whites on loan.

“Training at Liverpool every day has got crossing involved. I’d seen a few pundits trying to compare it to Trent’s crossing – obviously Trent is one of the world’s best right back and to compare my crosses to him is a good feeling, but I’m trying to be my own person and my own player. Before I came here, I’d seen Mitro’s goals this season and how many he’s scored, it is incredible. The records he’s breaking is phenomenal. For me to get as many assists as possible, he’s the ideal striker. In front of goal, he can score with head, feet, anywhere. As long as my deliveries are pinpoint, I’ve got no doubt with him in front of goal.”
