Martin O’Neill has been linked with a dramatic return to Premier League management – with the Sunday People claiming this morning that he is the favourite to replace Chris Coleman at Fulham.

The well-respected Northern Irish manager has been out of work since stepping down as Celtic boss to care for his cancer-stricken wife Geraldine last summer. His condition has now improved significantly enough to allow him to consider returning to management. It is understood that he would prefer to return to a job in English club football, although O’Neill does have influential supporters on the Football Association’s board as they consider who should succeed Sven-Goran Eriksson as England coach.

O’Neill has previously been heavily linked with the manager’s job at Craven Cottage and the People reports that the Cottagers hierarchy are ready to sack Coleman come the end of a disappointing campaign.
