Chris Coleman has outlined his view of the need for radical changes at Fulham after the Whites were beaten in the west London derby at the weekend.
The Fulham boss is planning a summer overhaul and told the club’s official website:
“On the playing side of things, within my staff and in the way I want things done around the Club. I’ve got everything planned for that but we can’t do it until we get through this season. No doubt there could be a couple of new faces here. This year we had the same pre-season as last season. It worked well so we stuck to it. It hasn’t necessarily gone stale but I think we need to go in a different direction.
We need fresh staff and new ideas. I don’t mean on the football side of things because that’s down to me. Certainly on the physical side of things we need a new direction. We can’t go out and spend £6million on a player so we’ve got to make sure that we’ve got the best technical, physical, medical and mental staff.
We’ve got to cover every angle. I know that Big Sam’s done that to great effect at Bolton so if it’s good enough for them, it’s good enough for us. In every department we need more staff and more accountability.
“I’ll have the way I want players prepared for games and the way I want training to go. I’ll have people in on the physical side and they’ll know exactly what to do to get the players fit. We all need a bit of help in every department and some fresh ideas.”
