Neco Williams was disappointed that Fulham bowed out of the FA Cup at Manchester City this afternoon – but professed himself happy to have made his debut for his new club.
The Welsh full back, a deadline day arrival from Liverpool on loan, stepped up to the first team to replace the injured Kenny Tete and showed some moments of promise on what was a tough afternoon against the Premier League leaders. Williams told FFCTV that he was delighted with the Whites’ first half display, but felt standards slipped after half time.
“First half I thought we battled well, we played good football. I think the first half we gave them a right good go, but second half they dominated us – especially in the last 20, 30 [minutes]. We knew it was going to be a hard game, tough game – obviously City like to play football, keep it on the floor, try and find them channel passes, those little pockets. We couldn’t quite get there in the end.
First and foremost, I’m glad to make my debut for Fulham. It was tough against a great side. I’m probably disappointed that we conceded the goals we did. A few off set pieces, a few off sloppy play. I think overall I’m happy with it all.”
Wilson revealed that he has settled in well at Motspur Park and is now targeting three points after a quick turnaround when Marco Silva’s side take on Millwall at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.
It’s all been quick. From the minute I’ve signed the papers, it’s all been very quick. I was training the next day and it’s been non-stop until today. I’m sure it is going to keep going like that because our next game is on Tuesday. Hopefully, we can get back to winning ways on Tuesday and get the three points.
As expected a tough start and we did have the pleasure of scoring first.
He’s saying all the right things. As we would expect. I think he will be a good acquisition. Which is more than can be said for some of the dross we’ve got in reserve.
