Fulham full back Luciano D’Auria-Henry feels back to his best after a frustrating spell on the sidelines after starring in the under 23s win over Sunderland at Motspur Park this afternoon.
The attacking right back delivered a performance of real quality as Steve Wigley’s boys overcame a dogged Sunderland side to strengthen their grip on top spot in the PL2 Division Two and D’Auria-Henry told FFCTV after the final just how delighted he was to have finally put his injury nightmare behind him.
The nineteen year-old said: “I’m really excited and happy because I’ve been injured for a long time. I’ve got back into the routine, played five games on the bounce now. It was a good performance from the team and individually I thought I done great.
I enjoyed the experience. I’m back in the flow. I’ve had my couple of games to get back into the flow of things and now I’m really enjoying the game again. I’m feeling at my best.
It was quite a comfortable win for us. We only conceded one shot, so it shows how comfortable the win was for us. We’ve built quite a bond this season – all the players in training, just to get better each week. We’ve learned each other’s movements and patterns so we’ve able to pick a strong side so we’re able to get in crosses and create chances.”
D’Auria-Henry revealed that he is revelling in the license that Wigley has given him to get forward from right back.
“I’ve always loved attacking. From young, I used to be a striker. I’ve got moved all the way back down to defence so it always been part of my game. I just love doing that. I don’t think I’ll stop doing that. I’ve always been an attacking threat and that’s one of my traits that I hope to always have.”
