Neco Williams is ‘delighted‘ to have joined Fulham on loan and hopes to help the Whites get back to the Premier League at the first attempt.
The Welsh international is excited by his the prospect of his first loan spell and admits that Harry Wilson’s account of life at Fulham played a big part in convincing him to come to Craven Cottage. He told FFCTV:
“I’m delighted. I was speaking to Harry Wilson, he was saying how much he enjoys it here. He was saying that it is a fantastic, big club and there’s no better way to arrive here and get the first training session out of the way straight away. It was a waiting game last night and I’m delighted that I’m here.”
The 20 year-old full back feels that Marco Silva’s style of play will suit his own strengths perfectly.
“When I was younger growing up through Liverpool’s academy, I’ve always played as an attacker but I changed to right back from under 18s. I’d say I am an attacking right back. I’ve got that attacking minded sense to me. I like to get up the pitch, energetic – I’d say I’m an attacking full back. The gaffer likes attacking full backs and the style of football suits me. It’s a no brainer.”
Williams is targeting more first-team football as he looks to consolidate his place in the Wales starting line-up ahead of crucial World Cup play offs but he is also eager to help Fulham sustain their promotion push.
“I want to show everyone what I can do, try get as much game team as game. My style of football I like to assist and try and get as many goals as possible. Hopefully, promotion comes into all that as well and Fulham get back to the Premier League. My dad said when I spoke to him the other day it would be nice to have a Premier League medal and a Championship-winning medal, so hopefully I can get both!”
Love Denis…but this is an upgrade for sure. Great signing and perfect fit for a dominant footballing side
Good move for Denis Odoi and he has been a valuable squad member since day one,a reliable sort and we shall be forever grateful for that wonderful header against Derby in the play off semi final. As for Williams,he is a good player obviously disappointed at not playing for Liverpool on a regular basis but a bonus for him to join Fulham at such an exciting time
Would be great for him to get a run out in cup on Saturday perfect opportunity.
Do we have any news about Kenny Tete’s return? With only 1 RB we are light. No Cyrus or Denis and Sess off to Plymouth. We look weak in defence especially as other promotion challengers have added players during transfer window
Having a player if his quality in the squad can only be a good move, and having him talk so positively about the set up at Fulham will help our profile too. Perhaps Harry and him can have a word with Gareth ?
A no brainer signing. He will add strength to our squad especially our woeful defence. More additions needed here. I had hoped we would have kept Denis Odoi until the end of the season. He could fill,in anywhere across the back line and was invaluable on the substitutes bench. Good luck to him.
“Our woeful defence”!!! has conceded the 3rd lowest number of goals, in a team that’s set up to attack
I think it’s a good move for both club and player.
Saturday will be a good indicator. I don’t expect to win obviously
But it will show how we are evolving after last season.
