Swansea are close to signing Fulham full back Cyrus Christie, according to reports this afternoon.
Talksport football correspondent Alex Crook reports that the deal to take the Republic of Ireland international is well advanced. Christie’s contract at Craven Cottage is up at the end of the season and current Fulham head coach Marco Silva revealed earlier this month he would do whatever he could to ensure the 28 year-old moved on during the January transfer window after deeming him surplus to requirements.
Christie, who was part of two Championship-promotion winning sides at Fulham, has made just a single appearance under Silva and is desperate to play regular football to revive his international career after missing out on the last Irish squad. He has previously been linked with Blackburn, Cardiff, Elche and Bologna – but it seems as though Russell Martin is nearing his second signing of the window.
Christie has made 68 appearances in his three years in south west London since signing from Middlesbrough in January 2018. He has slipped behind Kenny Tete and Denis Odoi in the pecking order at right back since SIlva succeeded Scott Parker this summer.
