Napoli will sign Fulham midfielder Andre Frank Zambo Anguissa on a permanent basis if they qualify for the Champions’ League, according to a report in La Gazetta dello Sport this morning.
Reports in the English tabloids over the weekend claimed that the Italian outfit had decided to trigger their option to buy Anguissa, who is about to feature for Cameroon in the Africa Cup of Nations, this month. But the Italian sports daily suggests that Luciano Spalletti will only be allowed to spend the £13m that will secure Anguissa permanently should his side reach the Champions’ League at the end of this season. It is suggested that qualifying for Europe’s premier club competition will convince the Napoli board to invest heavily in the playing squad.
The 26 year-old midfielder, who disrupted Marco Silva’s plans on the eve of the new season by revealing that he did not want to play in the Championship, has been a revelation since his move to Napoli. Anguissa has made nineteen appearances for the Blues, who currently sit third in Serie A.
This is ridiculous. Napoli are treating us like idiots. They seem to be dictating the fee of the player. And if that isn’t bad enough they seem to be calling the shots on when they buy Anguissa. Let’s sell him to palace and get double the money. This isn’t The Fulham Football Charity!
I totally agree with Jack if we can’t keep him then sell him to Palace or the highest bidder he is our player after all not Napoli’s
That what seems to happen to Fulham all the time. If it’s not players we bought for a ridiculous fee it’s the academy players also leaving for nothing!
If it’s an option to buy, then we don’t get a say. Option to buy means that in the loan deal, up front, we agreed with them a selling price, and if they choose to activate the option, then that is the price. In fact, the one thing we can say no to, is activating the option in January rather than in June, because the loan is a season long deal. If we let them activate it in January, it might mean we either have to refund them part of the loan fee, or forego the second instalment of the loan fee, or something like that. For us, it’s better they activate it in June.
