Moritz Volz may be stripped of the honour of scoring the Premiership’s 15,000th goal.
The Fulham defender rifled home the landmark strike as Chris Coleman’s men grabbed a point at Chelsea on Saturday.
But the dubious goals panel could end his hopes of donating the £15,000 sponsor’s prize to his favourite charity.
Volz, 23, beat Henrique Hilario with the help of a deflection from Blues ace Paulo Ferreira.
And if it is deemed that Ferreira’s touch was integral to the finish, it will go down in history as an own goal.
Volz joked: “I got a bit of stick from the lads because it took a deflection off Ferreira. But they don’t seem to understand that I did that on purpose just to wrongfoot the keeper.”
If the goal is taken away from Volz, Jose Mourinho’s side will be allowed to donate the money to a good cause of their choice.
