Aaron Hughes is delighted with his form at Fulham and believes he’s become a better player since moving to Craven Cottage.
The Northern Ireland international has formed an impressive partnership with Brede Hangeland at the heart of the Fulham defence and Hughes believes that he’s improved by playing alongside the Norwegian international.
Personally, I feel that I have improved definitely. If you take any 18-month period of my career I probably have improved as much as any other part of my career if not a little more.
I have learned a little bit more after seeing a different style of football and a different way of thinking.
I believe he is out of contract at the end of the season. Feel that he deserves a new one, even if Hodgson believes that Smalling and Baird are good enough – Hughes has hardly put a foot wrong over the last 18 months, and has been key to our success. Plus, he’s a very “Fulham”-type player. One booking in his entire Fulham career, I think?
You’re absolutely right Nick. Hughes has been immense for the past couple of seasons – and I honestly never thought he was as shaky as some made him out to be early in his Fulham career. It was quite obvious that he needed a taller, commanding partner alongside him and he’s been outstanding with Hangeland alongside him. One booking indeed and I’d be absolutely amazed if we didn’t offer him a new deal.
