Claus Jensen is excited by the challenge of playing for Fulham after admitting that his move from Charlton Athletic went through much quicker than he had expected.
The Danish international says he has been warmly welcomed by his new team-mates and can’t wait to establish himself in Chris Coleman’s new-look midfield. Jensen told Fulham’s official website:
“The move went though quite quickly, it all happened over a couple of days. I think it was kept quiet partly because of the way I tried to do things properly and correctly at Charlton. I had already been speaking to them openly last year about my future. After four years at Charlton, I felt that I needed a new challenge, a new inspiration, that’s all. It was never a case of me being unhappy there, so there were no stories about me being unhappy or anything.
I’d seen the type of football Fulham play and it was the kind that I like to play as well. From that point of view, Fulham were a team that I had always admired and once I spoke to Chris Coleman and heard what he wanted to achieve, it was easy for me to say yes to the move.”
Jensen has enjoyed his first few weeks with his new club.
“It’s been really easy. Everyone has been very helpful and the atmosphere here is really good. I didn’t really know any of the Fulham players personally but there’s a really positive feeling around the place, which is an important quality. I played around 15 or 20 international games with Bjarne Goldbaek and I know that he was really happy here. Also everyone who works at the Club is here at the training ground, which is great. There seems to be a connection between everyone here, it gives you the feeling that that you’re coming to a real club.”
