New signing Andrew Cole wants to fire Fulham into Europe after completing his free transfer from Blackburn Rovers.

The former England international is delighted to have completed his surprise switch to Craven Cottage and insists there is plenty of life left in him at the age of 32.

Cole told Fulham’s official website this afternoon:

“I think this move to Fulham has been a long time coming. It almost feels as if it’s meant to happen. Every time there has been a bit of transfer talk surrounding me, Fulham have always been one of the clubs interested. Even when I was leaving United, Tigana was interested but I think I was a bit too expensive at the time. But it’s come around now and I’m finally here again after 13 years.

It is definitely a new start for me, from top to bottom. I’ve been in the game a long, long time and I wanted a clean slate. When I spoke to the manager I said to him that people are always going to perceive me the wrong way and say I’m this and I’m that. But once you get to know me I’m totally the opposite. But such is football – that’s just sometimes the nature of the game we’re in.

I’m 32 but there’s a lot of fire in my stomach. I had a difficult two years at Blackburn but as a result of that I’ve got a lot of desire. It’s when that desire burns out that I’ve got to call it quits, but that’s a long way off. I’m still loving my football and I still want to score goals.”
