Fulham midfielder Andre Zambo Anguissa has signed a year-long extension to his Craven Cottage contract and completed a season long loan move to Napoli.
The Cameroonian international had told Marco Silva of his desire to leave Craven Cottage on the eve of the new campaign, saying he wasn’t willing to play in the Championship. Fulham had been holding out for a £20m offer for the 25 year-old midfielder, but decided to accept Napoli’s offer of a loan in order to get Anguissa’s sizeable wages off the books to ensure FFP compliance.
Anguissa was keen to join Napoli, who will have the option to purchase him permanently for around £13m at the end of his loan spell at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium. The former Marseilles midfielder has made 66 appearances for Fulham and starred on loan at Villarreal, where he moved the last time the Whites were relegated from the Premier League. He will be under contract at Craven Cottage until the end of the 2023/2024 season.
This player has just signed a new improved contract for fulham now going to play in Italy for the rest of the season.Crazy Crazy the worlds gone mad.Lets hope we sign grimes to compensate
The option to buy doesn’t make sense, surely its a season loan with a view that he will rejoin us in the Prem next season?
It all makes perfect sense John. It’s great business by the club.
I agree Andy, inspired business by TK for once. Keeps his value, even if he decides not to come back.
His heart was not at Fulham playing in the championship but seems keen to re-join us when we gain promotion back to the Premiership. Lets now go all out to get Grimes
Could it be the option to buy comes into effect only if we are not promoted?
And I suppose it helps with the accounting for the Fair Play Regs. Perhaps it will extend the write off of the signing on fees for another year.
