Fulham winger Ivan Cavaleiro has been called up for Angola’s forthcoming World Cup qualifiers after having his nationality switch approved by FIFA.
Cavaleiro had won two senior international caps for Portugal but was allowed to change his nationality having appeared in less than three competitive fixtures at international level. He qualifiers for Angola through his father, Lindo, who won the youth national title as a promising young footballer. The former Wolves winger has been named in a 28-man squad by Portuguese coach Pedro Goncalves for Angola’s opening qualifiers against Egypt and Libya.
The 27 year-old has made four appearances under Fulham’s new coach Marco Silva, scoring twice as a substitute in the impressive 5-1 against Huddersfield last weekend.
Obviously Angola haven’t watched him play,on Saturday against Hull I did not not know he was playing.
2 amazing goals v Huddersfield. Signs of the law of averages coming back in again vs Milwall and Hull with the poor finishing again. Cant see him keeping Wilson or BDR out the side. Maybe use him as an impact sub for his pace when teams getting tired.
He remains anonymous for large parts of matches and misses numerous chances. However he seems to be able to perform when he comes on a substitute for the last 20 minutes. Keep him on the subs bench but not start with him in the team
Good luck to Ivan. The international exposure may help with finishing his main problem. Approach work generally ok.
Has an Angolan supporter I hope he does well for us as well for him to improve his game and hopefully help Fulham get back in the premier league
