Harrison Reed will have a fitness test to determine if he can feature in Fulham’s Championship opener against Middlesbrough on Sunday, according to Marco Silva.
The Fulham head coach confirmed that Tom Cairney and Terence Kongolo will definitely miss the meeting with Neil Warnock’s side at Craven Cottage with injuries that are still preventing them from taking a full part in training. Reed, who missed the final friendly against Charlton last weekend, was described by Silva ‘as a player in doubt’ and Fulham are planning to assess his fitness again after tomorrow’s training session.
There is better news regarding Slovakian international goalkeeper Marek Rodak, who also missed the Charlton victory:
“Marek is completely fit: it was only a precaution last week.”
Silva downplayed Fulham’s status as promotion favourites with the bookmakers, highlighting the unpredictability of the Championship.
“In a competition you have favourites, and the three that got relegated are favourites, it’s normal. We have seen examples in the past that it’s not easy. Bournemouth are a good example last year, they kept a good part of their squad.”
Relieved to see that he is still featuring in the mix. We need his drive, energy and skill in the centre.
