Fulham have launched a loan bid for Flamengo striker Rodrigo Muniz, according to reports from Brazil tonight.
The Londoners are the latest in a long line of European suitors for the 20 year-old forward, who has scored ten goals in 32 appearances since breaking into the Flamengo first team last year. The youngster helped Flamengo last season and enjoyed a brief loan spell with Coritiba, where he scored once in six appearances, before heading back to the Rio-based side’s first team squad. He helped his boyhood club win the Brazilian title in 2020 and the Supercopa and the Rio de Janeiro state championship twice.
The reports from Brazil claim that Fulham have offered around £860,000 to take Muniz on a season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent for approximately £7.7m. The young forward, who saw a proposed move to Atletico Madrid fall through earlier this year, is intrigued by the prospect of moving to London and has held positive discussions with new Fulham boss Marco Silva. He has also been the subject of interest from Middlesbrough and Al-Nasr, but those developments seem to have cooled.
Muniz has quickly become regarded as one of Brazilian football’s brightest young prospects as a tall, strong and brave forward, who has shown a coolness beyond his tender years.
So Brazil could be coming to the Cottage ? If it happened & he could play with Mitro, what a cracking front line that could be. ?
pigs might fly. Very unlikely
Who knows. I remember some cynicism about a young Louis Saha joining with Tigana following a flop at Newcastle. Also LBM was a nearly man at both Arsenal and Southampton.
It would exciting to get some real flair in which could grow with the team if we were to go up. One never knows.
Why does fulham aways have loan players, have they got no money to buy players, they need a c/half,full back and a forward who knows, where the goal is.
I understand the potential of the player here, however, in our current situation, a striker that has a total return of six goals in 30 appearances just doesn’t seem to me like the right player for us.
We desperately need a second striker that can come in & contribute at least fifteen to twenty goals over the course of a tough Championship season so we are less reliant on Mitro assuming he stays… That will be even more critical if he leaves!
Surely we have loads of centre halves
Looking at past big money failures. A loan to judge quality has logic. We need as stated a proven goalscorer and a quicker playing pace. Slow quick quick slow didn’t work too well last season.
A loan with a view to a permanent signing is far more prudent than doing a Seri and shelling out 25m on a flop. If it comes off, great business. He looks the part, and if not, our hands are not tied.
I think a loan with option to buy would be good , and get shot of Seri he was a big mistake.
