Andranik Teymourian is preparing himself for life after Fulham – and possibly English football – as he spoke about his frustration at failing to make much of an impression at Craven Cottage.
The Iran international has made just a handful of first team appearances since swapping Bolton for Fulham in 2008 and his last sustained run of games came in a loan spell at Barnsley during the second half of last season. His comments to a Persian football website will hardly have endeared him to Roy Hodgson.
Unfortunately, I had couple of injuries recently. I will resume training after ten days, but it remains to be seen when I will be fit to play. I am not very pleased with my current situation. It seems that no matter how I train. It won’t make any difference to my coach.
In this situation, I care more about playing football than financial matters. I have discussed it with Roy Hodgson, but no convincing explanation has been given.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been given any opportunities. In these circumstances, I might consider leaving Fulham. I had a few offers, but none of them were considerable. I have now to wait and see what happens in the coming days.
To be honest, Andranik’s been something of a disappointment at Fulham. The signs looked good during his first pre-season at the club – and he was particularly impressive in a friendly win over Celtic at the Cottage. But the midfielder looked badly off the pace when he came on in August against Arsenal as a late substitute and, at time when he needed to impress Hodgson, was poor in this year’s pre-season warm-up at AFC Wimbledon. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he moves on either today or in January.
