Bob Bradley his named Fulham’s Clint Dempsey in his 24-man squad for the two forthcoming World Cup qualifiers against El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago.
Part of me was hoping that Bradley might rest a tired Clint, but the reverse in the Azteca last month meant that option pretty much went out the window. There’s been nothing official from Fulham, but it seems that Dempsey missed the Europa League game in Perm last night because of an ankle injury he aggravated in training. The pictures of Fulham’s Russian adventure already showed his ankle was heavily strapped. Hopefully, the injury won’t keep him out for too long.
Clint will start both games if he’s healthy. We should be able to handle El Salvador, which means there’s a good chance Clint doesn’t play 90. As for T & T, no clue. I imagine there’s a chance though we may see Clint vs Bobby in that one.
Good shout. Zamora’s got his T&T passport now so, injury permitting, he should be available. I haven’t seen any announcement of their squad though.
I’ll have to keep my eyes peeled for that. They were going to call him in for the last qualifier, so I imagine they will this time around if he’s healthy.
