Queens Park Rangers have branded Fulham’s bid for Ray Jones ‘derisory’ after rejecting a £50,000 offer.
Jones has impressed in the Championship this season, scoring five goals, and is one of the division’s brightest prospects.
He is out of contract at the end of the season and QPR are determined to keep the teenage striker at Loftus Road.
Club chairman Gianni Paladini has confirmed an improved offer has been put to Jones in a bid to retain the forward’s services, only for it to be turned down.
And Paladini also expressed his unhappiness at London rivals Fulham’s efforts to snare Jones on the cheap.
“The offer from Fulham was a shock and, frankly, derisory,” Paladini is quoted in the Daily Express. “Maybe they were trying to take advantage of Ray’s situation. We’ve put an improved offer to Ray, but I received a fax from his agent saying it’s not acceptable. Ray is only on academy wages, but it looks as if either he or his advisers have other plans. I don’t blame them, but Ray’s not for sale at that price.”
