Roy Hodgson is apparently considering a move for Celtic striker Chris Killen.
Fulham are still in the market for a centre forward after their move for Mark Viduka failed to materialise and Hodgson is rumoured to be interested in Killen, who Celtic could be willing to sell at a knockdown price. The New Zealand international, who barely got a look in whilst Gordon Strachan was in charge at Celtic Park, was impressive in pre-season and would probably relish the chance of a Premier League move.
Fulham would probably have to beat off competition from West Ham and Portsmouth to sign the forward.
Well Killen would be no threat to the first team and I presume would be a handy sub to have. It would be nice if we could set our sights on a player who could step in for Zamora and his goal scoring bottom and would be a real threat. We wanted Crouch but seem now to have settled back with Zamora.
Don’t know much about this guy, but it appears he is 6′, has scored in bunches in the past, is 27 (so at the peak of his athletic age). Good back I guess? Maybe a surprise?
I’ve been impressed with Killen every time I’ve seen him play and he’s looked very good in pre-season with Celtic to the extent that I’d be surprised if they let the Kiwi go.
There’s no too much wrong with sticking with Zamora in my book, Lighthouse. He took a lot of unfair stick last season and had a good game yesterday. Plus, he’s struck up a good understanding with AJ which deserves a chance to develop further. Unless we sign a top-quality forward – which at this point looks unlikely – Zamora will probably continue to start.
