Fulham coach Chris Coleman was far from happy with how his side allowed a two-goal lead to slip through their grasp against Newcastle on Tuesday.
Fulham’s fine start to the season looked set to continue when Lee Clark and Louis Saha fired them into a two-goal lead, but The Cottagers were left reeling when an Alan Shearer brace and Laurent Robert finish earned The Magpies a 3-2 win.
Speaking after the game, Coleman was less than impressed with how his players performed in front of their own fans.
“It was disappointing more than anything,” said Coleman. “To lose after going two goals up inside ten minutes, it is not good, but it was similar to Saturday and maybe it is a reality check for us.
“We have a massive game on Saturday against the champions and maybe we will learn some other things about ourselves.
“To be honest we did not win our individual battles today and at times our defending was horrific.
“Newcastle are a quality side, but it would not have mattered who we had played today.
“We were never really at the races, we were beaten up tonight.”
