Kit Symons is confident he retains the support of owner Shahid Khan despite facing more calls to be sacked after Fulham were held at home by Leeds.
Khan was at Craven Cottage last night and would have heard loud chants of “Symons out” at the full-time whistle.
Symons knows his position is under scrutiny following an underwhelming start to the season and he is set to hold talks with Khan this week.
The manager admits Khan, who is in London to see his NFL team Jackonsville Jaguars play at Wembley on Sunday, is “disappointed and frustrated” with results.
The American billionaire expects Fulham to challenge for the play-offs but Symons says he still has his backing despite sitting 13th in the table and with only three wins from 12 Championship games.
“He has been very supportive and I am sure that will continue,” said Symons. “He is the same as all of us. He wants us to kick on and get the club to where we think it should be, in and around the play-off places. So he is a little bit disappointed and frustrated. We have regular chats on the phone but I will get to see him when he is over and it is always good to speak to him face-to-face to see how we can take the club forward.
We have good and frank discussions on a weekly basis so there is no problem with that. I will see him over the next few days that is for sure.”
Symons admitted disappointed at Fulham’s lack of quality on the evening.
“It was a poor night. In the end we have got to be thankful for a point. Joe Lewis had a great performance but there were not too many other good performances. Middlesbrough was a good point and a good performance and this was a poor performance and a point so we should probably be thankful of that point.”
