Wolves are reported to have bid £750,000 for Fulham striker Matt Smith.

The 6ft 6in forward has long been on Kenny Jackett’s radar and they had a loan offer for him turned down last season.

Smith is out of favour at Craven Cottage having started just five matches in 2015/16.

He made a further 16 appearances from the bench and scored two goals.

The 27-year-old was a late starter in the professional game. His first Football League club was Oldham in 2011, with the Latics picking him up from Solihull Moors.

He scored 14 in 75 games for the League One club, including strikes against Liverpool and Everton in the FA Cup.

A move to Leeds, where he notched 12 in 42 league games, followed, before Fulham signed him for £500,000 in 2014.

He has struggled to claim a first-team place with the Cottagers, but spent a prolific spell on loan with Bristol City in League One in 2014/15, scoring 13 in just 20 games.

Wolves signed goalkeeper Andy Lonergan from Fulham on a three-year deal.
