Fulham defender Joachim Andersen was delighted with Fulham’s spirit in their win at Anfield last weekend and says the outstanding performance proves that the Whites can beat anyone in the Premier League.
Scott Parker’s side inflicted another damaging home defeat on Liverpool with Mario Lemina’s strike just before half time proving decisive. Andersen told Danish website Bold that, while the visitors could have had a more comfortable lead given the strength of their first half display, he was impressed with Fulham’s desire to hold onto their precious advantage.
“We played a great first half and had lots of chances. In the second half, it was incredible how we fought. You could see that everyone was working, and it’s just unbelievable. I have said many times now that we can beat all teams. We show every match that we are here to play and we produce a good match out of every showdown. So I’m just really happy.”
The Fuham skipper admitted that Lemina’s breakthrough came at the perfect time – and was proud of how his side dug in during the second half.
“It was good to score just before the break. We came in with a really good feeling and with the redemption from scoring. In the second half it was not our match and we did not play as we would like, but we just showed a great fighter’s will, and you need that sometimes too.”
Fulham now only remain in the relegation zone on goal difference level on points with Brighton in seventeenth place and one point behind Newcastle. They face another stiff test against league leaders Manchester City on Saturday night.
Of all the players we have on loan Andersen would be my number one choice to sign permanently. He is great player and an ideal captain. Scotty obviously saw this when he hand him the captains arm band so son after joining
If we stay up which I think we will on the performances we are putting in we should go all out and sign all the loan players. That will be the reward to them for what they have done this season we are a very strong team now and people are starting to appreciate the football we play keep it up Scott and your team
If we stay up I would hope we could sign ALL the loanees on a permanent basis as this is the basis a really good team, but of course the fair play issue and the lads availability might stop all of that, but here’s hoping, fantastic work all round, brilliant,
I agree with the points made by our captain and what a good captain he is. I note the interest he is receiving from other clubs and give credit for him being with us to all involved. Please however can we ensure if at all possible that we retain his services for the future by signing him on a permanent contract.
I think the issue with the loanees will be who we have already got a right to buy clause with, and possibly an agreed fee (presumably assuming we stay up), who we would have to persuade/negotiate for, and whether their values would be higher given the improvements all have achieved under Scott Parker.
I agree that we should look to keep Areola, Aina, Anderson, Lemina, and Lookman. I think I’d wait to season’s end on a decision on Maja, and given Loftus-Cheek’s comments at the beginning of the season of using Fulham to get fit before returning to Chelsea (which he may now regret saying), I’d have reservations, although I still feel there is still a lot of improvement with RLC given how he performed for England when last properly fit.
We must sign Anderson at the end of the season, and rest of loan players except Loftus Cheek . I hope the broad at Fulham are going to sign them and listening to the Fulham fans, if we sign them we are going to have a good season next season. If we only sign one player it must be Anderson. C.O.Y.W.
