Fulham could reprise their loan move for Huddersfield defender Terence Kongolo, according to reports this afternoon from Holland.
The Whites had the Dutch international on loan at Craven Cottage for the second half of last season, but the 25 year-old made just made two appearances before being ruled out for the remainder of the season with a foot injury. Scott Parker will be eyeing reinforcements to his defence as Fulham prepare for another assault on the Premier League in a month’s time – and Kongolo made 45 appearances in the top flight with the Terriers before Town were relegated in 2019.
The Dutch press suggest that Fulham are interested in signing Kongolo again and would have no problems in paying the versatile defender’s wages in full, which is a condition of a loan agreement with Huddersfield. That clause seems to rule out AZ Alkmaar, who were eager to offer Kongolo an opportunity to return to Holland. Kongolo’s only start for Fulham was in a 4-0 defeat at Manchester City in the FA Cup back in February, before he was injured as Parker’s side clung on to a 1-0 win at Blackburn, where he made a late appearance as a substitute.
UPDATE: A report from the Huddersfield Examiner suggests that Fulham’s interest might actually be a permanent transfer for Kongolo.
There is lot of talk about loan signing but is there not a limit to the number each team is allowed in the Premiership. Then if it is restricted Fulham need to look at their priorities which in my opinion should be on defenders.
We need a replacement for Ream and that should be our main priority. Kongolos a great addition but not what we need, we need proven premier league centre backs.
they have been linked to two defensive players coming in on loan, both can play in a couple of positions, not sure what point you are making John?
Kongolo can play all ong the back row and in midfield. On form he can be brilliant on his day and personally ill be sad to see him go.
WHO EVER GETS HIM DONTUPSET HIM HE NOTPLAY FORTEAM WHY DO U THINK WE PUT HIM UP UP FOR SALE
My Point is now many players can we sign on loan in the premiership. Apert from the two defenders we have been linked with loan transfers for Oliver ship. Babel and Ryan S plus perhaps some others. I agree a good centre back with pace and another full back are our priorities. Tim Ream a wonderful servant but not up to the premiership now except perhaps on the bench.
Two Premier League loans, unlimited from overseas.
If you want him, buy him and pay up. We need to recoup the 17.5 million that we paid for him, less the amount that you have already paid in loan fees.
Must sign a experienced defender with premiership experience,Shane Duffy fits the bill
