It’s been a turbulent 8 days at Fulham Football Club. We went from winning four games in a row, to losing three in a week. It’s hard to take as we have dropped to sixth in the table, but really that’s the least of our problems. The gap between us and Leeds and West Brom is most likely too big to claw back, meaning that the goal of automatic promotion could have already ended. We have a talented squad, but we also have a massively under achieving squad and it’s hard to figure out what direction we are going in. We aren’t a happy club right now.
But I really don’t think it justifies the absolutely toxic atmosphere that we have created for ourselves.
What has happened to us? Some fans are on the backs of the players before they have even touched the ball. Our boys are out of form, but I don’t for a second believe that the likes of Mawson and Bryan are bad players. You don’t become a bad player overnight, and we have seen enough of them to know that they have a lot of quality. They aren’t showing it at the minute, and that’s hugely frustrating for us all.
This is second time this season that I’ve written a piece about the treatment of our players, and it’s not even Christmas yet. This isn’t about not venting your frustrations. We absolutely have that right, but quite often the sort of things that are shouted at football players throughout a match are just vile. It’s not helpful to anyone and there will come a time when it impacts the players. It might have already started to.
Let’s get some perspective. We have a very inexperienced manager who is trying to find his feet, yet we are still very much in the play-off scene. We are in one of the craziest leagues in the world, were results are neither predictable or consistent, and we aren’t even half way through yet. While we would need a near miracle for us to achieve automatic promotion at this rate, it’s not impossible. What we need to do as a fanbase is get behind the team rather than tear them apart at every opportunity.
On to Leeds for hopefully a much better performance than against Brentford.

Agree it’s mad the abuse some players are getting . Once Fulham fans were not like that . We’ve got lots of injury’s had a bug going threw club . They deserve better support . It’s was daft to think we’re just gonna walk into top two know one has that right. We not been great but still in play off spots and refs v Bristol and Preston been a disgrace Fans need to get behind them help them throw this bad patch . And not take notice of the media rubbish of today
A very talented squad that needs encouragement and
direction.the encouragement must come from the fans
but the tactical nuance from manager, which i am afraid to say
our present one is not up to
Parker is out of his depth and needs to be sacked, simple as.
Best squad by a country mile in the championship and we’re no better then a mid table team…
Totally agree with a need for a sense of proportion. I’ve always thought we have ‘thinking’ fans. Media need for sensation gives faaaar toooo much airtime to those who shout the loudest. Where would Burnley be now if they sacked Sean Dyche again. Going up next season after a season of rebuilding this time is success. Yes, we need to spend on defenders, reassess midfield and striking options aLloyd need to be bedded in; three transfer windows gives us time to do that. COYW
Man for man Leeds and West Brom arguably have weaker squads than us. But the team spirit and management of those two compared to ours. No brainer! We are boringly predictable so are very easy to set up your team against. Thats down to Match Management..
Toxiticy is born of frustration. Of course it’s horrible to hear fans abuse their own players but obviously something is very wrong and we can all see how the players are frustrated with the manager. It will sadly get worse if Parker remains and things will probably get pretty nasty if Leeds give us a mauling. It is time for Khan to act and actually recruit a manager who knows what he’s doing and take some pressure away from the situation.
This is not u11 football. This is professional football played by incredibly well paid professionals and managed by incredibly well paid managers. I do agree we should not get on the back of players that are trying their hardest or if they make a mistake, so I’m not a fan of the criticism of Mawson. I think he is trying, from what I see he is suffering a crisis of confidence. The fans want to get behind the team, but, they need to see passion and effort. Actually they have a right to see passion and effort.
We have a fella called Onamah that has been rejected by Spurs and has now been given a lifeline of a well paid career at Fulham. Be grateful fella and work your n%ts off for your new team…no…can’t really be that bothered…ok…don’t complain if the fans turn on you then. Show the passion for the cause that the fans show.
Scott is not building something here, we are going backwards, or at best sideways…rather like Scott’s slow possession based football.
Basically you have a coach who moulds a team in his style.. dull boring sideways football ..Onomah had his best game and he was pointless..and the fact this coach picks him put of position ahead of O’Riley who did a better job than anyone else this season v Southampton..tells us everything..fans get fed up and understand that but this regime is rotten top down..until everything changes our best talent which is home grown O’Riley DLT Sess all have pathways blocked..especially O’Riley. And before people say “he’s not proven too young etc” the proven players he picks like Onomah fail miserably every week..Until that changes you will see vitriol and toxicity..Parker deserves it IMO..and even in the EFL CUP he ran the show..Im like a broken record but somebody needs to challenge Parker on this
Scott Parker deserves a little more time but he must reconsider the selection of his team. and have a plan B. Onamah should not be playing or even on the bench. I have not met one Fiulham fan that thinks differently.Parker must give the younger players a chance especially O’Reilly, De La Torre and allow Steve Sess a few more games. Koackaert gives his all but he is not worth his place at the moment. AK47 is a much better bet. The defence is a real problem. Mawson has no form at all and Tim Ream bless him is too slow, but what about using him a defensive midfielder. Odoi has his moments but 11 sending offs and umpteen bookings in his career shows he can be a liability. It is essential we get another two defenders in addition to Hector in January.finally we do not want Seri back he disrupts the dressing room.
