New signing Neeskens Kebano was pleased to make his Fulham debut in the win at Blackburn over the weekend – but wants to improve his own performance and further the team’s fine start to the new season.
The Congolese winger was a surprise inclusion in Slavisa Jokanovic’s starting line-up at Ewood Park having signed only a day earlier and appeared as a substitute for Genk in their crucial Europa League qualifier on Thursday night. But Kebano certainly made an impression and was happy with his first taste of English football, as he told Fulham’s official website after the game:
I’m happy because I played and I could show nice things, I think! I’m happy because we won, and that’s important. I heard after the game that we were second in the table, which is a nice thing. We’re going to keep on working and trying to improve because we are not perfect.
Kebano came the closest to opening the scoring in the first half when Blackburn goalkeeper Jason Steele made a fine save to claw away his powerful drive from outside the box.
I thought the ball was going to be inside the net, but he saved it. It was a good save, a very good save, so I had to forget about that and get back in the game and try other possibilities. But getting the win is the most important thing. We wanted the three points and now we’ll concentrate on a good recovery ahead of the next games.
The 24 year-old says he has already forged a good bond with his new teammates and has been made to feel very welcome at Motspur Park.
My teammates are very good with me. They talk to me, they guide me. They’ve got a lot of experience. Scott Parker is just one example. Before the game he spoke to me and told me I’m not alone, and that if I need something or have any questions then he’s there.
