Alex Kacaniklic says Fulham are eager to begin a strong run in the FA Cup – starting with tomorrow’s third round tie against Championship side Blackpool in the third round.
The Swedish winger could make his first appearance in the famous competition at Craven Cottage tomorrow after marking his return to the Fulham side with a well-taken winner at West Brom on New Year’s Day. The 21 year-old is relishing the opportunity to make an impression – and insists his team-mates won’t be taking their feet off the pedal either.
Maybe we have not done so well in the competition in the past few years, but I can say the FA Cup is a really big tournament and we want to go far in it and badly want to win on Saturday, for sure. That goes for me personally, but I think the whole team as well. We should be a team that has a chance to go to the end of the competition and it would be great to get to Wembley.
Kacaniklic feels that another win would also help Martin Jol’s side as they try to move away from the lower reaches of the league table after an alarming dip in form that ended at the Hawthorns on Tuesday.
I think now we also want to carry on winning after beating West Brom. That is important to us because we don’t want to slip back. We want to go out and get another win. We needed a win, but I wouldn’t say it’s been a crisis, because we know we’re a good team and that we have good players.
We needed a win, but I wouldn’t say it’s been a crisis, because we know we’re a good team and that we have good players. We’ve been a bit unlucky with results in the past two months, even though we haven’t played as well as we can. But this is a great way to start to the new year.
If you look at the squad, we have great players. We started well in the first few games and were high up, but two wins in the last 13 games is not good enough for us and we should be higher than we are. Hopefully we will get back up into the top 10.
