The Sunday People says that Martin Jol is keen to take Tottenham’s Tom Huddlestone on loan until the end of the season.
The Fulham manager might be forced to shelve his plan to tempt the Spurs midfielder to Craven Cottage by Huddlestone’s persistent ankle injury. A delay in the former England under-21 international’s recovery from his ankle problem might mean he won’t be able to return to full fitness in time to team up with Jol again.
The Dutch coach was a big admirer of the ex-Derby midfielder’s ability when he was in charge at White Hart Lane and tried to sign the 25 year-old when he was in charge at Hamburg. Huddlestone has only made four appearances for Tottenham this season, with his two league outings coming as a substitute.
Was saying at the game today that if Tottenham offered us cash plus a player for Dembele (as is rumoured), we should make sure it would Huddlestone and not Kranjcar. We have little need for a Kranjcar-esque player – Huddlestone would be far better for us.
It would be a straight swap or money going the other way. Can’t see the Hudd leaving on a permanent basis at all
If it was possible, he would be a perfect long term replacement for Murphy.
Won’t be fit till late Feb at the earliest and will be important in midfield for Tottenham. No way Harry will loan him out, just wishful thinking because of the Jol connection but it’s a complete non starter
Every transfer period we get linked with somebody from the Spuds, as if ‘arry would EVER do anything that could benefit us. We are so naive, but it’s sort of cute.
Before his injury Huddlestone was our best midfielder, his raking passes to Lennon and Bale have been sorely missed – there is no way when fit he would be loaned or sold.
Why would a manager take an injured player on loan?
If this was true then Jol would be sacked
Looks like the Sunday People or the reporter were dreaming and had a bit of space to fill so this popped up. The must have been high or drunk

I agree with Eggyboy1
you have no need for a krancjar-esque player? im not being rude but fulham would always have need for a ‘krancjar-esque’ player as he has more technical ability than any player at fulham…..in fact he has more technical ability than the majority of players at spurs. and i say that as a spurs fan….krancjars waste of talent has been a waste….for me he is a player who could grace a number of european teams. In the up coming european championships he will be 1 of croatias stars
That’s not my point. Fulham have players like Ruiz, Dempsey and Frei who can play in that third band of four. What Fulham are lacking is a deeper distributor who can also win the ball. Murphy isn’t going to last forever, Sidwell is more box-to-box, and Etuhu is just Etuhu. Huddlestone would fit the bill for what Fulham need more than Krancjar. Nothing to do with how good either player is – more to do with their roles.
