Hayes and Yeading manager Nas Bashir says Corey Gameiro can shine with the Blue Square Premier side despite a difficult start to his loan spell at Church Road.
The Fulham striker, who made his debut for the club in the defeat at Alfreton Town, was substituted at half-time in midweek as Hayes were humbled 4-0 at home by Newport County. But Bashir believes the Australian teenager can display his undoubted talent once he shakes off an ankle injury that has disrupted his season with Fulham to date.
Corey has shown some good signs, but he has come in off the back of a long-term ankle injury. But we will work with him and hopefully he can be good for us in moving forward.
He is at a Premier League club and is an Australian youth international. He will add to what we have got and hopefully help us move up the table.
Gameiro has been sent out on loan to build up his match fitness after that ankle injury curtailed a bright start to the new season with the Whites. Such was his goalscoring form in the Under-18 side that the 18 year-old was promoted to Billy McKinlay’s reserve side. Gameiro is expected to feature in the Middlesex Senior Cup tie at Hampton and Richmond later today.
