Fulham have struck a £5m deal for Bordeaux striker Diego Rolan and are confident of soon agreeing personal terms with the Uruguayan international, according to Sky Sports News.

Slavisa Jokanovic has been keen to bolster his striking options this summer with only Cauley Woodrow and Stevie Humphrys as recognised strikers at Craven Cottage following the departures of on-loan forwards Chris Martin and Cyriac since the end of the season. Fulham’s audacious pursuit of Rolan, who has starred for Bordeaux over the past two seasons, has been more than two months in the making – and the club believe they have successfully convinced the 24 year-old of the merits of a move to the Championship.

Rolan returned to France to prepare for a move away from Bordeaux last week having been in London to meet with Jokanovic, Fulham executives and discuss personal terms. Rolan has scored 33 goals in 121 appearances for the French club and scored four times in 23 games at international level. Acquiring the 5ft 9in forward, who has been the subject of late interest from newly-promoted Newcastle, would represent a serious coup for the Whites, who were beaten in the Championship play-off semi-finals last season.
