Since I’ve had my computer problems, I realise I’ve been neglecting updating our readers on the progress of Brian McBride in the MLS.
He scored a fine goal for Chicago Fire at the weekend. The turn past his marker to make room for the shot is magnificent, while the finish is emphatic. But, having watched Brian for the best part of four years, we shouldn’t really be surprised. The Fire drew that game against San Jose Earthquakes 3-3, scoring three equalisers – the last coming just four minutes from time thanks to Chris Rolfe.
The previous weekend they secured a vital win over the New York Red Bulls, winning a tight game by a single goal. The Fire are currently unbeaten and sit top of the Eastern Conference with eight points from their four games.
McBride’s goal was great, but the momentum of the match really turned in Chicago’s favor once Blanco entered the match at the half.
It was rough seeing Chicago have to settle for a draw, but the match itself was very entertaining.
Lets help Brian win an award! His goal is nominated for “Goal of the Week” and is currently leading the online vote. The fans decide this, so contact all your Fulham friends and give them the link. Lets send our thanks to a Fulham & U.S. Soccer legend.

Done – and I’ve urged the members of ‘The Brian McBride Fan Club’ on Facebook to do the same.
